Canadian Women & Sport Announces Selected Same Game Challenge Organizations

Canadian Women & Sport is pleased to recognize the sport and recreation organizations across Canada that have been selected to join the Same Game Challenge. It is exciting to see the influx of applications for this year’s program and we applaud the efforts of the other 43 organizations who were motivated to take on this gender equity work.

The Same Game Challenge helps sport and physical activity organizations to gain a better understanding of how to engage women and girls in their sport, and to find opportunities to improve their organization and programming for everyone involved by the Same Game Online Toolkit. Thanks to funding from Sport Canada, Canadian Women & Sport will support these sport and physical activity leaders working to advance gender equity in their organization.

Canadian Women & Sport is excited to note that this group of diverse participating organizations represents groups from urban, rural and reserve geographical locations; Black, Indigenous and people of colour sport participants; and individual, team, and multi-seasonal sports.

“As part of our strategic plan, Volleyball BC has placed a strong emphasis on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion – we are excited to be part of the Same Game Challenge so that we can learn from best practice, collaborate with others, and put in place a framework that will push gender equity forward in volleyball in British Columbia.”

“Kingston Gets Active is thrilled to be recipients of the Canadian Women and Sport’s Same Game Challenge.  We are eager to learn more about making sport and physical activity participation more equitable and inclusive in our community so that girls, women, non-binary and transgendered people can feel supported and encouraged to embrace opportunities.”

The Same Game Challenge will conclude in March 2022 when participating organizations will have the opportunity to share their learnings and successes of the program.
